Twelve Days of Christmas gift-away: Day 11 | Mally Beauty

Mally, Mally, Mally...
I discovered Mally because I was asked to make an audition tape for one of the shopping networks. It was for an up-and-coming beauty brand that needed someone to represent them on air, preferably someone who also knew the ins and outs of beauty products, and had experience as a makeup artist.
The request came through a friend who had always believed that all I needed to do was find a niche that was unique to my own abilities. She’s a wise woman. I have her to thank for sparking the flame that eventually grew into my YouTube Channel, and in a convoluted way, my unfettered admiration of Mally Roncal.
(In case you were wondering, the makeup brand did not end up going on air.)
While putting together my video, I needed a role model, so I searched all of the tv shopping websites for makeup experts. I must have watched the Bare Minerals commercial 10x before I decided it wasn’t what I was looking for. Then, I found Mally.
Since I “discovered” her, I’ve had the opportunity to meet her on several occasions, and those meetings have increased my respect for her.
Mally has a genuine warmth and ability to make you feel like you’re the coolest thing since the Emperor Penguin. She’s a real makeup artist who is trully both the face and voice of her brand. AND, She’s also got some serious business-smarts. While that can sometimes lead to shortcuts in product quality, Mally seems to really care about the efficacy of her products and has an interest in not just understanding what sells, but also addressing the real needs of her consumer. (I know this because I have access to some amazing cosmetics. Over the last year, I’ve worked with quite a few of the Mally Beauty items, and while I don’t love them all, I’m quite impressed by many of them.)
I kinda want to be Mally when I grow up.
Thank you Laura Lee. (Btw, I want to be like you when I grow up too.) This one is for you, and all my friends who have supported me and done their best to help me as I’ve navigated through the concrete jungle to cut a path of my own. You are my real inspiration.
<3 the faux python packaging.
Inside, a really lovely range of nudes and brown shadows, packaged with a brush and an eye primer.
